Social networking sites and politics

This journal is written to give readers a look into campaigns and how Myspace and Facebook are changing the way politicians run for office. Like anything else political campaigns have changed over time. With technology advancing the candidates were able to a permanent figure in the day to day lives of the voters. TV, radio, billboards, magazines, and newspapers are examples. However when the Internet came to be no one could have guessed the impact it would have on the campaign process. The other forms of media are still important to the candidate but they don’t compare to what the Internet can do for them. Myspace and Facebook allow the politicians to develop a more personal relationship with their supporters, and can even make direct communication with them. The functions of the Internet in politics will continue to evolve and help more people get involved in politics. The purpose of this journal is to show how the Internet has evolved like anything else in our world and how it will continue to have an impact on events in our life.
